NCSE is pleased to announce the impending addition of four new members to its board of directors.
Carin Bondar is a Canadian biologist and science communicator with a PhD in population ecology from the University of British Columbia. She is the host of several television and web series about science — and was recently a guest on NCSE's podcast — as well as the author of several books, including Wild Moms (2018). Bondar is the chair of the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, and also serves on the board of education of her local school district.
Lee Ferguson is the Upper School Advanced Placement and Honors Biology Teacher at The Episcopal School of Dallas, Texas. She is also on the AP Biology Exam Development Committee for the College Board. Ferguson received the Outstanding Biology Teacher and the Kim Foglia AP Biology Service Award from the National Association of Biology Teachers; she also currently serves on the NABT's board of directors.
Quentin Ladson currently serves as an Instructional Coach for the Barrow County School System in Winder, Georgia. He has dedicated his career to ensuring students have access to high-quality, equitable, and evidence-based education. With extensive involvement at both the elementary and middle school levels in all contents, he brings to the board a wealth of experience with students and stakeholders.
Gale M. Sinatra is Stephen H. Crocker Chair and Distinguished Professor of Education and Psychology at the University of Southern California. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association, a member of the National Academy of Education, and the coauthor, with Barbara K. Hofer, of Science Denial: Why It Happens and What to Do About It (2021).
"I'm delighted to welcome all four new members to NCSE's board," commented NCSE Executive Director Amanda L. Townley. "NCSE stands to benefit greatly from the psychological expertise of Gale Sinatra and the media savvy of Carin Bondar. And since the heart of NCSE's work involves helping science teachers in so many ways, I'm especially pleased that Lee Ferguson and Quentin Ladson will be representing the teacher perspective on the board."
All four new members of the board will officially join NCSE's board of directors at its April 2026 meeting.
