A disappointment for evolution education in Wales

Despite the advice of a group of the United Kingdom's leading scientists and educators, the new national curriculum for Wales neither increases the amount of evolution in the curriculum nor explicitly prohibits the teaching of creationism, according to Humanists UK (January 28, 2020). Humanists UK, which organized the group of scientists and educators, previously lobbied successfully for similar revisions to the national curriculum for England. Wales Humanists Coordinator Kathy Riddick commented, "It is hugely disappointing that the Welsh Government has ignored the advice of leading, world-class scientists and gone ahead with a new curriculum that will allow for creationism and other pseudoscientific ideas to be taught as science in our schools and which fails to require the teaching of evolution until a very late stage."
