Webcast: Darwin, the Origin, and the Future of Biology

"Darwin, the Origin, and the Future of Biology" is a celebration, sponsored by the British Council and the Open University, of the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species — and it will be available to watch on-line! In his keynote address, E. O. Wilson will offer his assessment of the achievement of Darwin as a naturalist and the importance of his big idea as well as his own vision for a new system of biology equipped to tackle the threats to our natural world; a panel discussion featuring Peter Bowler, Randal Keynes, Sandy Knapp, Armand Leroi, and Ian McEwan will follow. The event will be available on-line after it finishes, around 11:00 a.m. GMT (6:00 a.m Eastern) on November 24, 2009.
