Joe Felsenstein

Joe Felsenstein is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Genome Sciences and the Department of Biology at the University of Washington in Seattle. He has worked for many years on computer methods and statistical methods for reconstructing phylogenies (evolutionary trees), and also on the mathematical theory of how evolutionary processes change the genotypes within species. He was astonished to find out that these two obscure topics were connected. He also tries to explain to people on the internet how evolutionary biology works and why it's important to know that.
