A discussion of youth efforts to lobby for climate change education in their states published in Sierra magazine (June 2, 2025), the magazine of the Sierra Club, quoted NCSE's Glenn Branch.
After describing the recent efforts of the Climate and Resilience Education Task Force in New York state, the article continued, "Not everyone agrees that schools should teach climate change. Florida and Texas have tried to make it harder for schools to use textbooks that mention the subject. But other states, such as Oregon and Colorado, have pursued climate education laws. Many of them 'are driven by youth activists,' said Glenn Branch, deputy director for the National Center for Science Education. '[The youths] bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm.'"
Accompanying the article was a sidebar entitled "Want to Be a Climate Kid?" with advice to young would-be climate change activists offered by "student leaders from the East Coast to the West Coast."
