As an archaeologist and social anthropologist, Martí Gil brings a uniquely interdisciplinary perspective to her work. She manages the museum’s extensive anthropology collections — over 1.33 million archaeological artifacts and more than 3,000 ethnographic objects — and ensures compliance with Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act directives. Fluent in five languages, she integrates cross-cultural understanding into every aspect of her educational and research initiatives. In addition, she oversees the museum’s public communication strategy and serves as assistant editor for the museum's Occasional Papers and Special Publications. Her leadership has strengthened the museum’s role as a hub for accessible and engaging science communication. Through her work, Martí Gil champions the advancement of science, the protection of biodiversity, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge about evolution, climate change, and the interconnectedness of life on Earth. As a Sound Science Fellow, she continues her commitment to fostering scientific literacy, critical thinking, and inclusive, evidence-based education for all.
