Washington's House Bill 1134 (PDF), which sought to establish a green schools program "to create and expand resource conservation practices in public schools," died in committee on March 12, 2025, when a deadline for bills to pass their house of origin expired. The program would, among other things, have supported "instruction in climate curriculum aligned with the state learning standards for science and integrated environmental and sustainability."
